Using the Crisi Wartegg System (CWS) within the Alternative Model of Personality Disorders (AMPD) Framework: A Monthly Four-Part Series

Training Overview
This seminar series applies the Crisi Wartegg System (CWS), a standardized methodology for the clinical use of the Wartegg Drawing Completion Test (WDCT), to the process of personality assessment and conceptualization, according to the Alternative Model of Personality Disorders (AMPD). First an overview of the AMPD will be offered, to orient clinicians to its use in conceptualization and personality description. Application of the CWS to the four Self and Interpersonal Core Personality Capacities will be reviewed, identifying CWS indices and variables that indicate self and interpersonal functioning across the five AMPD Levels of Impairment (ranging from ”little to no impairment” to ”extreme impairment”). Next, the 25 Individual Trait Expressions (”Trait Facets”) will be reviewed, again identifying CWS indices and variables that load onto each (including Negative Affectivity vs. Emotional Stability, Detachment vs. Extraversion, Antagonism vs. Agreeableness, Disinhibition vs. Conscientiousness, and Psychoticism vs. Lucidity).
Lastly, according to the Capacities and Facets mapping detailed in the DSM-IV, six specific personality disorders will be reviewed, with a case presented to illustrate each: Borderline, Schizotypal, Narcissistic, Avoidant, Obsessive-Compulsive, and Antisocial. Interpretation and conceptualization will be the focus of case discussion (with CWS Scoring, PLUS Scoring, and case protocol/transcript sent to participants ahead of time for review). Scoring questions will not be the focus of this training, given time constraints.
